If American foreign policy had not already jumped the shark so many years ago, it would have pole vaulted over Jabberjaws yesterday with the news coming out of the White House. Despite the fact we have already discussed here in the Truth Emporium that the Syrian rebels are, in fact, a branch of al-Qaida, and not our allies; the Obama administration has decided to give them weapons anyway.
We know the dirty rotten Syrian rebels are mostly just Islamist terrorists. John McCain loves them. It is really astounding that we’ve spent trillions of dollars and thousands of lives in Afghanistan to fight the exact same people we’re now about to ship arms to in Syria.
If this same disreputable band of ragamuffins was in Pakistan or Yemen or Afghanistan, John McCain and his inbred friend, Lindsey Graham, would be in favour of sending an unmanned Predator flying drone to drop a Hellfire missile in their lap. But since they are Islamist terrorists in Syria, Senators McCain and Graham want to arm them.
Syria is just a geographical oddity, isn’t it? Just how stupid is America?
What did John McCain’s pals in Syria do this week.? Oh, they’ve not been up to much. Except executing a 15 year-old boy for “insulting the prophet Mohammed.” In other words, it was a vanilla, ho-hum week for the Syrian rebels. These are some good allies we’re teaming up with, alright.
Its all true. Check out this ABC story:
A teenager selling coffee in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo was arrested by Islamist rebel fighters for insulting the Prophet Mohammed, beaten and then executed in front of his family, a watchdog group claims.
The boy, Mohammed Qatta, 14, reportedly refused to give a customer coffee, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported Sunday.
“Even if [Prophet] Mohammed comes back to life, I won’t,” the boy said, who was known by his nickname “Salmo.”
Extremist rebels driving past in a black car overheard the comment, the opposition Aleppo Media Center said. Qatta was taken away by the fighters and later brought back, his head wrapped with his shirt and his body covered with marks from whipping.
The rebels then read out the boy’s sentence – not in a Syrian accent, but in classical Arabic. They accused the boy of blasphemy and told the crowd – which included the boy’s parents – that anyone who insulted the Prophet would suffer a similar fate.
Qatta was then shot in the mouth and neck. A graphic photo was released late Sunday of the dead boy clearly showing wounds that matched the reports.
These bloodthirsty people in rebellion in Syria - the equal of the Bashar Assad regime in brutality – are the folks Barack Obama now wants to ship arms to. That was the decision the administration reached yesterday after it concluded the Assad regime used chemical weapons upon the rebels. You can read more about the story here.
The justification presented for arming the Syrian rebels is the tired old refrain we’ve heard before: weapons of mass destruction. President Obama wants you to believe that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons. It hasn’t presented any proof that this foul deed actually occurred. You and I are just supposed to believe upon faith that the government is acting honestly and with integrity, only with your best interests in mind.
That lame excuse of WMD’s seems to be the one trick pony of the statists, warmongers, and chickenhawks. I suppose next the warmongers will claim that we need to arm the Islamic radicals in Syria to combat Assad “over there, so we don’t have to fight them over here.”
Are these rebels“allies?” Are these people we should be helping? Are these people we should be arming?
You wouldn’t arm the Taliban, would you? Unless they’re fighting the Soviets, no, you wouldn’t arm Islamist extremists. So why would you arm Syrian Islamist rebels?
I guess we didn’t learn our lesson the first time down this road in the 1980′s with the Mujahedeen. Maybe we’ll learn one day. It won’t be this day, however.
You would think more recent history would tell us to avoid intervention in Syria. But it won’t. We apparently did not learn our lesson in Libya. It turned out that the rebels in Libya are the same band of bloodthirsty malcontent that we’re seeing in Syria. They weren’t freedom fighters. They were simply Islamist radicals seeking retribution and power – not some kind of new order of Liberty and prosperity.
Say what you like about Assad of Syrian, Mubarak in Egypt, Gaddafi in Libya, and even Saddam Hussein. They were all bastards. But the Middle East was a stable place when these bad people held the reins of power. America was not being embroiled and drawn in to unwinnable situations, like explosive Islamist rebellions, when the region was stable.
When will the United States simply learn to mind its own beeswax.
